We have been working hard to build industry leadership in these sectors. Last week I was at a closed coal power plant built in 1952, same year I was born. The engineer touring me said “It may look tired but it’s still running.” I said that I can relate. He then showed me a 59 year old turbine and said “This unit still has a good bit of useful life. Do you think you can find a buyer?” I said nobody is better suited to pitch useful life at 59 but that turbine sure looks beat up. It was after four hours of walking on planks looking down three stories. He must have thought “Look who’s talking.” Off to the next one – I plan on out lasting that turbine . Best RD

Heritage Global Partners to conduct Online Enterprise Bulk Sale Auction of Wind Tunnel System used for aerodynamics testing of motorsport and aerospace vehicles

San Diego, CA – January 4, 2012 –.Heritage Global Partners will conduct an online enterprise bulk sale auction of a single lot of a wind tunnel system, currently owned and operated by the award-winning manufacturing and engineering company, Swift Engineering, Inc. The online auction will be held on Tuesday, January 17 from 10 am PST through Wednesday, January 18 at 2 pm PST at www.hgpauction.com.

This single lot auction will include the main components of Swift Engineering’s wind tunnel system, designed to provide an accurate and repeatable instrument for aerodynamics testing of ground effect vehicles. The auction will also include non-exclusive, limited rights to the associated Swift wind tunnel intellectual property and design data for the purpose of reconstructing (in part or in full) the wind tunnel design in a new location.

Hi everyone. We’re ending year two at HGP with a killer December and are very grateful to our buyers, sellers and our Global Partners. It’s been but just two short years since Kirk and I received our “You’re no longer necessary” notice. We were more than surprised, and actually shocked. Together we decided to follow our family legacy of standing up to adversity. When your Grandpa was an ex-Boxer, and Your Dad an ex-Marine, you come out with the gloves on. Well, it was a fair fight. Our little family against “them.” My brother boldly warned day one that “Our Thunder is Coming.” How right he was. HGP is now at the top of our industry, and someone else lies on the canvas puffing. Fair warning if you get up, four Doves have their gloves on, and are in the center of the ring, waiting. We love this business, and can’t wait to win the next fifty deals. One of my greatest auction times was doing Fight Night charity auctions with Smoking Joe. Frazier. Once I asked him when did he was tough. He said 11th round in the Garden with Ali. Well, we all can’t be heavyweight greats but we all get our 11th round in the garden. At HGP we will be in the center of our auction ring throwing leather and remembering Joe. I sold his autographed gloves for more than those of his lifetime rival and he hugged me and told me everything done in the ring counts. I am on the road pitching auctions and in his honor will fight even harder to win. Best. RD

Hi everyone. First off, I have received over a hundred emails saying congrats on the Solyndra sale. We’ve had two complaints: One that we sold too fast, and one that we were too slow I agree with both. Fast or slow, it’s over. A moment in time frozen forever. My two eldest sons took their first turn on the auction block. If you’re a third generation auctioneer there is nothing more special than the right of passage handing the gavel to your boys. I remember like it was yesterday when my dad and grandpa said “Ross, you can sell now.” There was no auction stand. No global audience, no world wide web, but I did have three people still in the restaurant and sold all seven mops. I hope in thirty years they feel the same pride when their kids hold the gavel. The auction was killer. Three thousand bidders. Twenty countries. It is our day in the sun.

Solyndra Retains Heritage Global Partners to Conduct Public Auction of Surplus Assets on November 2^nd and 3^rd

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Heritage Global Partners will conduct a global webcast auction of surplus assets held by Solyndra, LLC, an innovative solar manufacturer that filed for bankruptcy protection under chapter 11 on September 6, 2011. Heritage Global Partners obtained approval from the bankruptcy court on October 17 to conduct this auction of surplus assets not required for the restart of Solyndra’s production process. Solyndra still plans to sell its core assets on a turnkey basis through a separate process approved by the bankruptcy court.
