SAN DIEGO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Heritage Global Partners will conduct a Global Online Auction of a fully-automated, commercial-scale PV-wafer and cell processing line, currently owned and operated by solar silicon manufacturer Silicor Materials, formerly known as Calisolar, in Sunnyvale, California.

Consistent with the plan Silicor Materials outlined last September, the company’s core product continues to be high quality silicon for PV cells. The Sunnyvale operation successfully demonstrated the quality and value of the company’s solar silicon by producing top-tier PV cells. As the company focuses now on expanding silicon production capacity with a new facility in Mississippi, the equipment for PV cell production is no longer needed.

This auction represents a unique opportunity to purchase a fully integrated wafer and cell line, with a comprehensive wafer and cell intellectual property portfolio. Silicor Materials’ PV assets will first be offered as a complete production unit, either with or without associated IP, All bulk offers must be submitted before March 21. In the event that a bulk offer is not accepted by close of business on March 21, Heritage Global Partners will commence with a Global Online Auction of piecemeal assets on March 22 and 23 at www.hgpauction.com.

Silicor Materials is a vertically integrated manufacturer of solar and industrial materials that produces the high-quality, low-cost solar silicon. In operation since 2010, the Sunnyvale production facility consists of best-in-class metrology equipment, with a fully integrated, fully operational, ISO-certified production line with 75MW of name-plate production capacity that has produced over 20 million cells.

Silicor Materials is also offering for sale its portfolio of wafer and cell-related intellectual property and process systems and know-how, which has demonstrated world-class wafer and cell performance. This includes issued patents and pending applications with broad global coverage, as well as proprietary process know-how and quality systems.

“This offering of the these production assets allows interested parties a unique opportunity to purchase top line, production-proven equipment, as an integrated “turn key” wafer and cell manufacturing line, or as individual assets,” said Craig Thompson, Director of Sales, Heritage Global Partners.
